Backstory

Healthcare and I go back some 50 years – to when I first sat in my father's dental chair. Even at a young age, I was struck by the trust his patients placed in him and the calm, confident care he provided. That early exposure sparked a lifelong calling to be part of the healing world.

This calling deepened in college when I helped care for my grandmother after she became physically dependent due to chronic illness. Supporting her daily needs taught me patience, presence, and the quiet strength required for long-term caregiving – lessons no textbook could provide.

My professional journey began in traditional family medicine, where I gained profound experience caring for patients across every life stage. Yet over time, I observed that many chronic conditions weren't improving with conventional protocols alone. That led me to pursue advanced training in functional medicine, where I found a more complete framework – one that considered root causes of illness, prevention, and lifestyle.

When I created TrueScan, it felt like a natural extension of that mission. Giving people access to full-body imaging – before symptoms appear – allows us to catch things early, make better decisions, and take a more proactive approach to health.

Why Proactive Medicine?

I was drawn to medicine because I wanted to help people heal – but that calling took on a deeper meaning when I was diagnosed with cancer myself. Thankfully, it was caught early, at stage I (by MRI) and that changed the course of my life. Early detection gave me options, and ultimately, it gave me a cure.

As a family practice physician trained in functional medicine, I’ve always focused on finding the root cause of illness – not just managing symptoms. But it wasn’t until I became a patient myself that I fully understood how powerful, and necessary, early detection really is.

Over the years, I’ve seen too many patients receive life-changing diagnoses only after it was too late for meaningful intervention. Those moments stay with you. They’re devastating – and often preventable.

That’s why I believe we need to fundamentally shift our approach. Proactive health means giving people the tools to take action before symptoms appear. It means using advanced imaging not as a last resort, but as a first step in prevention. For me, it’s about protecting quality of life and offering patients something we don’t talk about enough in medicine: peace of mind.
