Whole body MRI has become one of the most talked-about tools in proactive health screening as more and more people want to know what's happening inside their bodies before symptoms appear.
Two providers serving this market take very different approaches. SimonMed Longevity brings preventive imaging into one of the country's largest outpatient imaging networks, with tiered packages at more than 70 locations. TrueScan is a specialized preventive imaging center in St. Petersburg, Florida, built around comprehensive imaging, physician guidance, quantitative MRI, and dedicated heart screening.
Whichever you're considering, ask:
- What exactly is included in my scan?
- How much of my body is evaluated?
- Who helps me understand the results?
- Does the screening evaluate coronary artery disease?
- What happens if something important is found?
Prices and package details as listed by each provider as of October 2026.

Coverage and price
SimonMed sells MRI in tiers, so you can start small and add anatomy. TrueScan offers two starting points. The Focused Scan is a streamlined 45-minute MRI from brain to pelvis that covers the same soft tissues and organs as the Full-Body MRI, without the spine, carotid arteries, lower extremities, or liver fat quantification. The Full-Body MRI is the complete head-to-ankle exam.
SimonMed tiers
| Package | Includes | Intro price | Regular price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core MRI | Chest, abdomen, pelvis, liver fat, gender-specific pelvic imaging | $899 | $999 |
| Core + Head & Neck | Core plus head and neck | $1,599 | $1,799 |
| Core + Head, Neck & Spine | Core plus brain, head and neck MRA, complete spine | $2,199 | $2,499 |
Closest comparison: what each full scan covers
| Area | TrueScan Full Body MRI ($1,995) | SimonMed Core + Head, Neck & Spine ($2,199–$2,499) |
|---|---|---|
| Brain | ||
| Brain arteries (MRA) | ||
| Head, neck, and carotid arteries | ||
| Chest, abdomen, pelvis | ||
| Full spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar) | ||
| Lower extremities |
Which is less expensive? It depends on how much you want scanned. SimonMed's $899 Core MRI is the lowest price in this comparison, but it stops at the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. TrueScan's $1,195 Focus Scan adds the brain. (Core does include liver fat quantification, which the Focus Scan does not.) Once you add the brain, neck, and spine, TrueScan's $1,995 Full Body MRI costs less than SimonMed's comparable package and also covers the lower extremities.
Every option compared
Each program answers a different question, so comparing prices alone misses the point.
| Program | Price | Includes | The question it answers | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TrueScan Focus Scan | $1,195 | 45-minute brain-to-pelvis MRI, 60-min physician consult | What's happening in my brain and major organs? | First-time screeners, a pre-40 baseline, cost-conscious patients, or a specific concern |
| TrueScan Full Body MRI | $1,995 | Head-to-ankle MRI with brain and carotid MRA, 60-min physician consult | What can we see structurally throughout my body? | Comprehensive screening to establish whole body health baseline |
| TrueScan Executive MRI | $3,495 | Full Body MRI plus quantitative brain, body composition, and liver analysis | What more can MRI measure about my brain, body, and liver? | Getting the most comprehensive quantitative data including dementia risk |
| TrueScan Total Health | $2,995 | Full Body MRI plus Coronary CTA with HeartFlow AI | What's happening throughout my body and inside my heart's arteries? | Screening for all leading causes of death (structural disease & coronary artery disease) together |
| SimonMed Enhanced | $3,499 | Most extensive MRI, AI body composition, advanced brain imaging, 100+ blood biomarkers, digital report, one-on-one consult | What do my MRI and a large lab panel show together? | MRI plus broad lab testing |
Inside the Executive MRI
The Executive MRI includes the full head-to-ankle protocol, then adds measurements that turn an anatomical exam into a quantitative one:
NeuroQuant brain analysis measures the volume of key brain structures and compares them with reference populations. Instead of only asking whether the brain looks normal, it adds objective data on brain aging and patterns linked to dementia.
Perspectum body composition measures visceral fat, subcutaneous fat, skeletal muscle mass, the psoas muscle, and regional body composition. That's a far more detailed picture than weight or BMI.
Quantitative liver analysis includes proton density fat fraction (PDFF), which measures liver fat, and liver iron concentration, which measures iron stored in the liver.
Why the heart needs its own scan
Every whole body MRI shares one limit: it is not a coronary artery exam. Adding more MRI sequences doesn't turn an MRI into a coronary angiogram.
Picture two healthy-feeling patients. One has a kidney mass or brain aneurysm that shows clearly on MRI. The other has significant plaque building up in the arteries of the heart. Those are different diseases, and they need different tools.
Whole body MRI asks what's happening throughout the body. It's built to find masses, aneurysms, lesions, and other structural changes.
Coronary CTA asks what's happening inside the arteries that supply the heart. It creates detailed images of the coronary arteries and can show plaque, how much narrowing is present, and whether that plaque is calcified or noncalcified. HeartFlow then analyzes those images: its Plaque Analysis quantifies and characterizes the plaque, and FFRCT estimates whether a narrowing is actually reducing blood flow.
TrueScan Total Health ($2,995) pairs both exams. SimonMed offers cardiovascular imaging and says heart screening may be added to Enhanced, but dedicated coronary imaging isn't part of its listed $3,499 package.
TrueScan doesn't ask one modality to answer every question. It uses MRI where MRI excels and coronary CT where coronary CT excels.
After the scan
A multipage radiology report with no one to explain it can create more anxiety, not less. Findings range from harmless variations to things that need follow-up, so what happens next matters as much as the scan itself.
| Category | TrueScan | SimonMed |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation | 60-minute physician video consultation, included with all proactive scans | Results reviewed with a licensed health professional; some locations offer a virtual visit with an Advanced Practice Provider |
| Timing | Report guaranteed within 7 days, often in as little as 48 hours | Consultation within about 5–7 days at some locations |
| Urgent findings | Escalated immediately, outside the routine process | Not specified in published materials |
| Follow-up help | Patients are connected with TrueScan's elite Tampa Bay physician network | Not specified in published materials |
TrueScan's consultation walks through the findings, explains the terminology, separates important findings from incidental ones, discusses next steps, and answers your questions.
Boutique center vs. national network
| SimonMed may fit better if you… | TrueScan may fit better if you… |
|---|---|
| Live outside of Florida and surrounding states | Live in or within driving distance of Tampa Bay or can travel to St. Petersburg |
| Are worried specifically about core organs and want a blood panel done in the same visit | Want a streamlined Focus Scan or a comprehensive head-to-ankle exam, with concierge health service and network connections |
| Prefer to choose from a wide range of price points | Want built-in coronary artery screening as an option |
| Already get diagnostic imaging through SimonMed | Want one team handling your scan, radiology read, physician review, and follow-up |
TrueScan's visit is designed around screening rather than fit into a high-volume radiology workflow. That means a private changing area, provided attire, and TV, streaming, or music during your MRI.
Does 3T beat 1.5T?
SimonMed markets 3T MRI. TrueScan uses a 1.5T Siemens scanner. It's easy to assume the bigger number means a better exam, but image quality depends on much more: the protocol, sequences, coils, motion, the anatomy being scanned, and who reads the images. Both field strengths are used in published whole body MRI research.
Field strength is one spec. More useful questions are: What anatomy is included? Which sequences are run? Who reads the exam? What happens if something is found?
The bottom line
No single package is right for everyone.
SimonMed's strengths are national reach, more than 70 locations, and tiered pricing that starts at $899. Its $3,499 Enhanced package pairs MRI with body composition, advanced brain imaging, and 100+ lab biomarkers.
TrueScan's strength is depth, with a path for every level of interest. The $1,195 Focus Scan is a 45-minute brain-to-pelvis MRI built for first-timers and anyone wanting a baseline. The $1,995 Full Body MRI covers head to ankle and includes a 60-minute physician consultation. The $3,495 Executive MRI adds quantitative brain, body composition, and liver analysis. The $2,995 Total Health adds Coronary CTA with HeartFlow.
That last option matters most. You can have a comprehensive whole body MRI and also take the most important picture of the plaque inside your coronary arteries.
